My name's Heather Dresbach and Iiiii... am an art nerd. Woo, feels good to get that off my chest!
In all seriousness, I went to the Academy of Art university from 2004 to 2009, graduating with a BFA in Animation & Visual Effects. While I was technically a 3D major, I also learned stop motion and 2D animation, as well as illustration.
Last year, literally a month after I graduated, I ended up in the hospital with blood clots in my heart, lungs, and leg. It was pretty gnarley, to say the least. If I hadn't gone to the hospital when I did, things would have gotten too far for me to recover. I heard lots of stories from various nurses and doctors about girls younger than me dying three to four weeks after having trouble breathing. I went to the hospital three days after I'd had trouble breathing, and the clots had already spread to those three areas I mentioned. Needless to say, it was pretty bad and knocked me on my ass all of last year.
Since then, I've had to cope with having a minor heart problem, weak lungs, and a sore leg. Unfortunately these are permanent issues, but at least I can walk and breathe, so could be worse I guess ;)
These days I'm working hard at improving my drawing and animating skills. I try to draw every day, but often end up slacking for one reason or another, then have a spurt of art-awesomeness and draw my heart out. I've been learning how to animate in Photoshop and Flash, which has been the kind of challenge I've needed. I hate feeling bored, so I'm always trying to challenge myself one way or another.
Okay, enough seriousness, srsly. This is not meant to make people feel sorry for me ;) But since this is a personal blog, I want to be honest you all :)
I'm a caramel coffee fiend, ice cream lover, and I can't get enough Law & Order. Through the epicness that is Netflix Instant, I'm slowly but surely expanding my already abundant movie nerdery. I live in the mountains and try to get out whenever the weather is decent (ie, not blazing hot or freezing cold). While being an art geek, I also love science, biology and genetics in particular. I'm also pretty decent with physical science, which comes in handy with being an animator of course ;)
